On 25 March 2021, KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation will hold a virtual symposium to celebrate the launch of the SOS Stoolbox.
The stoolbox is the toolbox for the Simple One Step (SOS) stool processing method and the Xpert MTB/RIF (Ultra) assay for the detection of tuberculosis and drug resistance. Young children can’t easily spit up a sputum specimen. Other methods to get a sputum sample of them can be complex, invasive, stressful and painful. KNCV therefore developed a simple stool-based diagnosis, which could be a global because enables more children at risk from TB and MDR-TB to be tested.
During the symposium, country experiences will be shared and in addition, Edine Tiemersma from KNCV, will give an overview of ongoing evaluation studies.
