Kick off collaboration Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital and KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation

We are happy to announce the collaboration between the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH) and KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. The collaboration kicked off on 26 August 2021. By building linkages between institutions in this manner, we hope to build upon the individual expert assignments that are also undertaken as part of OAUTH’s Connecting Diaspora for Development (CD4D2) project. The cooperation will add an extra layer of institutional connectivity and knowledge sharing.

The collaboration – which is set at a duration of nine months – will focus on knowledge transfer between the two institutions. KNCV will work on capacity building in tuberculosis care at the host institution in Nigeria.

The Executive Director of KNCV, Dr. Gidado, is leading the collaboration. Based on previously defined priorities by the host institution, the work plan is designed to improve tuberculosis care at OAUTH. Some of the main objectives of the collaboration include improved clinical management of patients with tuberculosis, improved training of resident doctors in various medical departments, and to enhance practical skills in tuberculosis care.

We are proud of this collaboration and are looking forward to seeing the results from this valuable partnership in the months ahead.

KNCV has been fighting TB since its establishment in 1903. Over the past 120 years, the organization has acquired indispensable knowledge and experience in the field of effective TB prevention and care, resulting in pre-elimination in the Netherlands and significant contributions to global evidence generation, policy development and TB program implementation worldwide.
