Executive Director of KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation, Dr. Gidado Mustapha, presented the 2022 annual report to Her Royal Highness (HRH) Princess Margriet of the Netherlands, who serves as the patroness of KNCV.
Gidado says “Despite all challenges, the year was deemed successful, with the foundation implementing over 60 projects across 20 countries, KNCV made substantial contributions to the field of tuberculosis (TB) research and knowledge dissemination by publishing over 40 peer-reviewed articles, covering various thematic areas of TB”. Additionally, KNCV actively engaged at global level by participating in different technical working groups. These achievements demonstrate KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation’s commitment to combating TB on multiple fronts, including project implementation, research, and global advocacy.
HRH Princess Margriet expressed her sincere gratitude to the private and institutional donors for their support in the fight against tuberculosis and their contributions to KNCV. She also thanked the dedicated staff of KNCV, the Board of Trustees, and the front-line healthcare workers in all countries. HRH acknowledged their resilience, hard work, and commitment to combatting TB, a preventable, treatable, and curable disease that still claims the lives of millions worldwide. She believes that through their collective efforts, significant progress can be achieved in reducing the burden of TB and bringing hope to affected individuals and communities.
