Lillian Mtei is a medical doctor with 24 years professional experience working in the fields of internal medicine and project management in Tanzania.
Lillian is an expert in the provision of technical oversight and guidance in TB and HIV management and prevention, control of infectious diseases, and maternal and child health survival programmes.
Lillian previously worked as the Clinical Study Director for the first vaccine clinical trial in Tanzania (used in the development of the Tanzania national guidelines and tools for the management of TB in HIV infected patients) and the programme Director for new-born baby sickle cell screening in Tanzania.
Lillian has published extensively and is a member of the Tanzanian National TPT Expert Committee, contributes to the development and implementation of the national roadmap for TPT scale-up, and the Tanzanian National TB/HIV Technical Working Group.
Within KNCV, Lillian is responsible for leading the IMPAACT4TB project in Tanzania, developing the national plan to introduce and scale up the 3HP regimen in Tanzania with the Tanzanian National Tuberculosis & Leprosy Programme (NTLP) and developing country specific procedures and educational materials. Lillian has been instrumental in forging a strong partnership with the Tanzanian NTLP. Lillian is also responsible for monitoring and evaluation of the IMPAACT4TB project and the administrative, financial management of KNCV Tanzania office and represents IMPAACT4TB and KNCV in forums and workshops on shorter regimens for TPT and Latent TB Infection Management.
